Three Cheers for Volunteers

Throughout our history, volunteers have been the lifeblood of the Epilepsy Association of Calgary. It is through the participation and dedication of volunteers, that we have been able to provide programs in the community for the past 50 years. Training orientation is both agency and job specific. Volunteer positions include: Office Assistant, Public Education Speaker, Casino Volunteer, Penguin Mascot, Education Displays, Special Events/Revenue Generation, and our Penguin Mascot - Echo. Some opportunities are ongoing, while others are on call or occasional. Volunteers may participate in any or all activities for which they have the time and interest in pursuing. The Epilepsy Association of Calgary is a member of Volunteer Calgary.

If you are interested in doing "great things" with us, please contact Melanie for more information by calling 230-2764, or by e-mail to epilepsy.mburnell@telus.net.

Looking for a way to get out of the house every week AND contribute to a good cause?
If so, we can use you around the office answering phones and helping with other office duties for a half day a week.
If you have questions or are interested in any of the above, please call Melanie at 230-2764.

We’re Having a FUNd-Raising Casino

VOLUNTEERS WANTED!!!
Our casino is scheduled for Thursday, July 31, and Friday, August 1, 2008 at the Cash Casino on Blackfoot Trail. We are recruiting volunteers for the event – now! Day and evening shifts are available. Snacks and refreshments are provided to all volunteers attending.

If you can help, please download and fill out the volunteer application and shift preference forms:

Return these forms to us by May 16, 2008 – our address and fax number are included on the shift schedule. If you have any questions, please call Kathy at 230-2764, or George at 289-2241. (If you don’t have the means to print out these forms, please call us, and we’ll mail them out to you.)

We’ll confirm your shift(s) once the applications are returned, and our Volunteer Casino Manager, George Waite, has completed the schedule.

Volunteer Thanks

We're happy to say that our ranks now include a few "little people" (aka children)... and a few cuddly canines. Welcome new volunteers Nad, Ramsey and Sarah... who are all under 12 years old! Good things really do come in small packages! Nad and Ramsey did an AWESOME job selling chocolate penguins and bracelets at the Farmer's Market. Sarah sold pop at one of the Sobeys BBQs. Look out Britney... we've found the new "Queen of Pop"!

A huge thank you to all the office volunteers who phone and mail out reminders and invites, send out literature, and do a million other things that help make this place run more smoothly!

Our thanks to the Wild Rose Foundation for making our Volunteer Program possible!

We extend THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE to all new and continuing volunteers who have lent their enthusiasm during the past several months!

Together we are making a difference!
